- Invulnerable Right Hand of Doom
- The Hand feels no pain, and Hellboy can cause a lot of destruction with it. He will often use it to punch through stone walls.
- The Hand is the key that will awaken and release the Ogdru Jahad, bringing about the world's end.
- It has been suggested that if Hellboy dies while the the Hand is attached to him, it would become useless
- Because the hand is so large and cumbersome, he doesn't use it for much other than punching people and crushing things. Anything requiring fine manipulation is done with his Left Hand of Normal.

Personality
Describe: Hellboy is a living oxymoron; a demon destined to end the world, yet possessing a heart of gold, an iron will and a love for humans (and cats). He is likeably gruff, with a dry wit and sarcastic attitude. He shows a disinterest in his supposed 'destiny', and hides his insecurities behind the facade of the adventurous tough guy. He's the type who'd just as soon knock back a cold one and light a stogie than fight evil demons and spirits; sometimes he'll do it all at the same time. He can be hot-tempered at times, and seems closer to a rebellious teenager than an ancient harbinger of destruction, but he never fails to stand up and save the world with a sarcastic one-liner and a whole lotta heart. Although he may not like to show it, Hellboy cares deeply about his friends (especially Abe) and his girlfriend, Liz. He knows he can never find acceptance among 'normal' people. The freaks are all he has, and the freaks are all he needs.
Likes:
- Cats
- Baby Ruth bars
- Bein' the hero
Dislikes:
- Nazis and anything associated with them
- People starting at his horns
- Any mention of his 'destiny'
“Fatal Flaw”: Hellboy's temper often gets the best of him and makes him reckless. He also tends to charge into battle solo (especially when he's angry). No one's quite sure if the 'lone hero' act is an ego thing, or if he just wants to keep his friends out of danger.
History
Hellboy came to Earth on a stormy night in December, 1944 on an island off the coast of Scotland. The Nazis, aided by mystic Grigori Rasputin, attempted to open a portal and summon the Ogdru Jahad, the Seven Gods of Chaos. They succeeded in opening the portal, but American soldiers destroyed it before the Ogdru Jahad could awaken. As the portal collapsed, it sucked Rasputin up like a black hole. The mystic was presumed dead. Professor Trevor Broom, occult specialist, advised the troops as they searched the area for anything that may have come through the portal. What they found was a small, red-skinned demon-child with a massive right hand that looked like it was made of stone. Broom coaxed the demon into his arms with a couple Baby Ruth bars. They named the demon "Hellboy".
Broom became Hellboy's adoptive father, and one of the few people the demon would listen to. He spent a portion of his childhood with Broom on a military base in New Mexico in the 50s. Eventually, Hellboy joined his father at the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense (a top-secret branch of the FBI) where he became a valuable asset. Due to sporadic public sightings and blurry pictures, Hellboy became something of an urban legend, joining the likes of bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster.
The Bureau expanded its team as new agents were found. Abraham 'Abe' Sapien, codename Blue, became something of a brother-in-arms and best friend to Hellboy. The two worked missions like a well oiled machine. Hellboy also met Liz Sherman, a pyrokinetic, at the Bureau. He grew incredibly fond of her, and though she'd quit and rejoin over and over again (13 times by 2004), Hellboy was always there to welcome her back (and was usually the one begging her to come back in the first place).
In 2004, Hellboy's origins would finally come back to haunt him. Ilsa von Haupstein and Col. Karl Ruprecht Kroenen, immortal Nazi agents, resurrected Grigori Rasputin. They set in motion a plan that would bring about the end of the world, and Hellboy was the key. There were many casualties left in their wake; slain BPRD agents, a badly wounded Abe, and hardest of all for Hellboy to handle - the murder of Professor Broom at the hands of Kroenen. Three days later, Hellboy, Liz, Myers, Manning and some other agents were off to Russia to hunt down Rasputin.
They tracked him to his mausoleum: a cavernous, gothic, trap-filled dungeon. The additional agents were killed. Hellboy slaughtered Kroenen. Liz saved everyone from a pack of hellhounds, but knocked everyone out with the force of her powers. That allowed Ilsa and Rasputin to get the drop on the heroes. They cuffed Myers, chained Hellboy and set the unconscious Liz up on an altar like a sacrifice.
When Hellboy woke, the mystic offered him a deal: say your true name, accept your role as Anung Un Rama, Beast of the Apocalypse; unlock the portal to the Ogdru Jahad and Liz will be spared. Hellboy refused, so Rasputin took her soul and effectively killed her. He promised that Hellboy would see her again... if he opened the portal. Distraught, Hellboy reluctantly repeated his true name. His shackles were destroyed, his horns grew to their full length, a fiery crown appeared over his head and the intricate patterns in his Right Hand of Doom glowed like lava. He stood before the Tunguska pillar and opened the portal halfway, the Right Hand of Doom acting like a key. But then he remembered himself. He broke off his horns and stabbed Rasputin to death. He and Myers took Liz's body to safety, and then Hellboy went back to finish off the god that had been using Rasputin's body like cheap wrapping paper. When the job was done, he went back to Liz and Myers.
"She's got no pulse," Myers said. Hellboy picked Liz up and whispered. She came back like she'd just been sleeping. She said she heard his voice in the dark and asked him what he'd said.
He replied, "I said Hey, you, on the other side - let her go. Because for her I'll cross over, and then you'll be sorry.'"
Four years later.
Liz remained at the Bureau, though her relationship with Hellboy had become strained. They had to put aside their troubles, however, when they got called to check out a slaughter at an auction house. Hellboy was in another room when, in the chaos of a fight, Abe's telepathy and psychometry abilities picked up on the fact that Liz was pregnant. She denied it, but later tests back at the BPRD HQ proved Abe right.
As they analyzed the evidence from the scene, they realized they were dealing with the vengeful Prince Nuada, an elf intent on claiming the legendary Golden Army so that he could wipe out humanity. A new agent, Johann Kraus, was assigned to lead the operation. He and Hellboy had an antagonistic relationship. Hellboy hated Kraus's rigid adherance to protocal (and the fact that he was German). Kraus found Hellboy to be too temperamental and unreliable. However, when Hellboy was mortally wounded by Prince Nuada, Kraus encouraged everyone to break protocol, steal a plane, and go find a way to cure Hellboy.
In the end, Hellboy got healed, he defeated Prince Nuada and stopped the Golden Army. Before Manning could reprimand them for stealing the plane, they all quit the BPRD - including Kraus. Hellboy intended to settle down someplace in the country where he and Liz could raise the baby. Singular. She informed him that no, there were going to be two.
Good job there, Big Red.
