I was wondering if anyone here read the Buffy comics?
I'm a comics girl and when I heard that they were making Season Eight, I was ecstatic! Because comics are expensive, I decided to wait until they were published in trade paperback volumes to buy them. I've read volumes 1-4 and am waiting for 5 to arrive in the mail. Plus, they've just released a Willow one-shot comic that is sorta a prequel to S8.
Well, was just wondering. I'd like to know what other peoples' opinions were of them, since a lot of fans are disappointed in the comics. *shrug* I don't know, I think they're ok. Not as good as watching a new season or a TV movie, but still pretty good.

No, I'm not much of a comic person. Though I have friends that are. Most of them that I know who are Buffy fans, love the comics.
To me, yeah... It's just not the same as it being on TV.
AND... Gah! I heard they are talking about remaking the movie. Which, I didn't mind the movie. But, I see it as separate from the TV series. I'm not really sure I'll like a remake of the original movie. I wish they would do something with the TV series cast, a movie, TV movie, mini-series, something.

Hey, Willow. I've only read the first 2 issues. I thought they were pretty cool.
Yeah, it's not the same as it being on TV, but I think it's a cool medium for Buffy. It gives it a lot more freedom. I'd have to read more to make a full case either way.

Hiya Oz! *waving vigourisly*
Remaking the original movie?! Uh, no. No, no, no, no, no. Bad idea. Really bad.
Yeah, the movie is "ok", but like you Faith, I don't see it as the kickstart to the series. It was kinda a stand alone spoof, or something along those lines.
But to remake it? Nope. They'd probably go and ruin it and distort the origins of the series and all that. It was what it was. Best to leave sleeping dogs lie, you know?
But if they were to do something with the original cast...I think I'd die!! I mean, the last season, and the last few minutes of the last episode in particular, was a nice wrap-up to the series, and if they never do continue from that, it would serve as a nice li'l ending to the whole story. But, if you stop to think about it (like I have a habit of doing), there's still a lot unanswered. Where are they going to go, what are they going to do? All (or most) of the Watchers are gone, so how in the world are they going to gather and train all the newborn Slayers?
Yeah, I think it'd be great for them to do a movie, TV movie or a mini-series. But, truth be told, I don't know if it's going to happen. I think SMG is really trying to distance herself from Buffy, and now that she's just had a little girl... And if she's not going to come back, then chances are, no movie. No one's going to want to see Miley Cyrus (or whoever) as Buffy Summers.
But we can all still hope and cross our fingers!!!!
So, to circle this back, that's why I like readin' the comics. I don't know if they'd be considered canon IF a movie would ever be made, but for right now, they serve as a good Buffy-fix. And yeah, they can do a whole lot more in a comic-verse than they would ever be able to do on a TV-show budget. Gives 'em more wiggle room, I guess, to tell a story.

Yeah. I think the comics are a good way to continue the series. They can do a lot with it that way.
I don't know how I feel about the Angel ones though. I looked them up and it sounds like they got really screwy with it. I'm slowly but surely going to make my way through the Buffy ones though. I was never into comics until I got to college and made friends with people who were lol.
Oh. I'm also Oz, by the way ^. Once I get more of my characters actually situated in the world there'll be more of them in my staff icon lol.

Yeah, I keep having to go to the drop-box's for you and Faith, to look up who's who. You two will be busy when this place picks up I leafed through an Angel comic one time, but have never bought them. Shame then to hear that they've fraked them up. Tsk-tsk. Apparently they did a Spike mini-series too, but again, haven't bought it. Probably will though. Spike was always my bumpy-foreheady man *kiss* Well, you know, college is where the kids experiment, lol. Me too, btw, on the 'reading comics in college' thing. Though it was the Spiderman movies that really kickstarted my interests. Then I made the mistake of letting my boss at the library see that I was reading good ol' Spidey, and he, of course, had to recommend about a dozen other titles. I still tell him that he's the reason I'm living in poverty.

Haha. Yeah, I've had a few recommended to me but I haven't even bothered trying to get into any series yet. I'm having enough trouble balancing the brain-sucking school reading and the fun reading. Let alone a whole new medium.
I do love the visual aspect of comics and the interesting things you can do in a comic that don't really work on a screen. And there are so many different styles.
That was why I decided to give the skin a comic book feel. Originally this was a Buffy/Lost Boys board and I always loved the comic book element of The Lost Boys, so I wanted to make that a visual theme on the board. When we changed the theme of the board, I still wanted to keep that aspect because I like it, visually.
Babble babble...

Oh, the universal brain-sucky-reading. Not a fan. Yeah, it is hard to balance school things and fun things. But for me, I'm like completely over school, so half the time, I don't do my school readings. I know, I'm naughty. But I'm a senior, just trying to get some of my final credits, and lucky me, I've learned what classes I can skimp on and which ones I can't.
To be honest, the comic book feel to the site is part of what made me feel comfortable here. So I think it's a great idea and works just fine!

I stopped reading the comics but the Spike Puppet series was very funny. I might pick that one up again.
Angel comics weren't bad but I only read the first issue.
The buffy comics I just had to stop. It was like watching a train wreck. The Faith and Giles road trip thing was fun to read but the stuff going on with Buffy and Dawn were just weird. Now from what I hear and I have no idea if it's true but Dawn and Xander are together which I like since I think they're cute but again, no idea if it's even true. Personally the Buffy comics were too weird for my tastes.

Yeah, the "No Future for You" arc was, in my opinion, the best the Buffy comics have done. That was the Faith/Giles one. Course, between Buffy and Faith, I have to say, I'm more of a Faith gal. Sorry Buffy So I always pay more attention when Faith is on screen, or on page, which ever. I just, just got to Xander and Dawn's first kiss (the books finally arrived in the mail a couple of days ago). Yeah, they were always cute with each other...but....Dawnie's a kid. Idk, it kinda creeps me out, to tell the truth. I never really saw them in *that* way. Oh well. They do have a lot of respect for each other, so what more can you ask for, right? Oh, I'll be jumping into the rp soon, if anybody's wondering where in the bleep I've been. Midterm and paper time! Yipeeee! Sarcasim, btw.

Yeah, there's a bit of an age thing but I honestly can't say anything against it since I'm in a relationship with someone who's a bit older than me. >.<
