+Aura-reading+
She can see the energy a being gives off and, through reading that energy, she can figure out a being’s true nature, current mood, and general disposition.
+Telepathy+
She can mentally communicate with certain individuals. This works best with people who are psychically receptive or sensitive. Otherwise the messages become jumbled and can have nasty side-effects such as headaches, nosebleeds, and dizziness.
+Telekinesis+
She can move objects with her mind, but large objects are tricky. They take more concentration and energy and she can’t always control them as well.
+Levitation+
She can levitate or cause others to levitate.
+Altered Telepathy+
Since she was resurrected, Tara has acquired a new ability. She is a messenger for The Powers That Be and, through her natural telepathy ability, they are able to speak to her. Basically… she has voices in her head telling her what to do. Other beings can also communicate with her in this way, such as: angels, demons, elders, the source, Jacob, The First, and spirits of the deceased.

Personality
Describe: Tara is generally a very timid person. She grew up in a household where her natural abilities were thought of as something evil, so rather than embracing her gifts Tara felt ashamed of them. Because of this, her powers didn’t develop as much as they normally would have throughout her childhood and adolescence.
Since breaking away from her family, Tara has grown significantly. She is still, at the core, shy and timid, but she’s learned to feel more comfortable around certain people, revealing herself to be responsible and intelligent. Her relationship with Willow helped her to be more confident. She became more sure of herself and started really embracing her abilities for the first time.
Tara is a good listener, and although she doesn’t normally initiate a conversation, she’s always willing to offer advice and guidance, and she never judges a person based on their actions. She’s also good at keeping secrets, provided there are no safety concerns involved.
Tara’s never had much luck in love. Because she’s shy, she never feels comfortable even revealing her feelings for someone, and it takes a lot of time and effort for someone to get to know her. But, if you’re willing to make the effort, a relationship with Tara is worth your time. She’s a devoted and loyal partner and will support you in all your endeavors.

“Fatal Flaw”: Tara’s a very capable young woman, but what she can or can’t accomplish ties in directly to her self-esteem. She always underestimates herself, and tends to think she’s useless. If Tara doesn’t have confidence that she can do something, then she can’t do it.
History
Tara was born on October 16, 1980 to Donald and Allison Maclay in Birmingham, Alabama. Her early childhood was fairly normal and happy until supernatural abilities began to manifest themselves. Tara comes from a long line of natural witches on her mother’s side, so these abilities were no surprise to Allison. Her father, however, deeply feared and resented his wife’s heritage and he told Tara that she was of demonic descent on her mother’s side and that the manifestation of her abilities proved that she too was a demon. For most of her childhood and adolescence Tara believed her powers were evil and tried not to use them. Her father and brother were also very cruel to her, belittling her whenever possible. As a result, Tara became very timid and skittish.
Tara was a good student in high school, but she was often bullied and didn’t have many friends. She also didn’t have many boyfriends, which most of her family teased her about mercilessly. When Tara was seventeen her mother died. This was especially hard for Tara because her mother was the only person in her family who treated her with love and respect. She was also the only thing keeping her father, brother, and cousins from taking their torment too far.
After Allison’s death Tara’s life became a living hell. Her father and brother abused her physically and mentally, she dropped out of school and tried several times to run away from home. But her family would always find her and bring her back. She started using her powers, drinking and partying, and hanging out with some unsavory characters. She became very depressed and self-destructive for a few months before deciding that her best chance at getting away from her family was to finish her senior year of high school, graduate, and go to college.
Tara attended the University of California in Sunnydale, where she kept to herself for a chunk of her freshman year. Her only real social activity was a Wiccan group called the Daughters of Gaea, which wasn’t about witchcraft so much as cute boys and slumber parties. However, it was through this group that Tara met Willow Rosenberg. The two of them quickly discovered they were the only ones in the group who believed in actual witchcraft and they started spending time together and practicing spells, getting to know each other as they learned from one another.
Tara developed a crush on Willow soon after they started spending time together and the two continued to help each other grow as witches and as young women. Their friendship soon budded into something more romantic, a vague and secretive relationship in its beginning until Willow was forced to ultimately choose between Tara and her high school sweetheart, Oz.
Tara and Willow had a strong but tumulus relationship. As Willow became more powerful and Tara became more outspoken, they had their ups and downs and they reconciled their differences, no matter how difficult or painful. However, when Tara was accidentally killed by Warren Mears on May 2, 2002, Willow was consumed by rage and became focused on ending the world and all the suffering in it.
Because Tara died a natural death, not a supernatural one, Willow was unable to resurrect her using magic. But, when Glory created her new dimension it did not go unnoticed. The Powers That Be, unable to manifest themselves in that world, resurrected Tara and placed her in this world. However, she’s slightly different. Her abilities have been supernaturally enhanced (unknown to her) and she’s now a Messenger for the forces of good. The Powers intended her to be only their Messenger, but other entities can speak to her as well, such as angels, demons, and spirits. There are many purposes she could serve to many different entities.
